CAMERA LUCIDA CHAMBER SERIES: NYC PIANIST WARREN IS SPECIAL GUEST ON APRIL 20
Camera Lucida, UCSD's prestigious chamber music concert series, continues Monday April 20 at 8 p.m. at The Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla with a concert featuring special guest Warren Jones (piano) together with UCSD faculty cellist Charles Curtis and San Diego Symphony violinist Jeff Thayer and violist Che-Yen (Brian) Chen.
The program includes Ravel's Sonata for violin and cello, Britten's Lachrymae for viola and piano, and Brahms' Piano Quartet in A major.
Mr. Jones' performances have been describe as "exquisite" by the New York Times and "utterly ravishing" by the Boston Globe. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Kathleen Battle, Marilyn Horne, and many other notables, and has released several CDs. He is on the faculty at Manhattan School of Music.
Through a collaboration between the Department of Music and KPBS-FM, a recording of the concert will be broadcast on KPBS (89.5, streaming at kpbs.org) on Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
Camera Lucida is made possible through the generous support of the Sam B. Ersan Chamber Music Fund.
Tickets are $25 general, free for all students, available through UCSD Box Office (858.534.TIXS) or at the door.
