LEI LIANG'S "TRANS" IS "LUMINOUS" IN NYC PREMIERE
|Performed by Steven Schick, the recent New York City premiere of UC San Diego composer Lei Liang's Trans was "luminious," according to UT San Diego music critic Jim Chute. For Schick's 60th birthday concert at Columbia University's Miller Theatre, Liang provided 60 audience members with pairs of rocks that they used in collaboration with Schick's percussion to create "sonic clouds". It's a prolific year for Lei, Chute notes, citing several concerts of Liang's music in venues across the country.|
