COMPOSER LEI LIANG SHORT-LISTED FOR PULITZER PRIZE
UC San Diego composer Lei Liang has been named as one of three finalists for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize in Music, which was awarded to composer Julia Wolfe. Lei earned recognition for his piece Xiaoxiang recalling the memory of a tragic event that took place during China's Cultural Revolution, when a woman was killed by a local official after protesting the Communist regime's oppression. Liang's work brings together digital processing with orchestra.
