DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC ARTISTS ON VIEW AT QUALCOMM INSTITUTE'S DIGITAL ART SERIES



  UC San Diego Department of Music artists Anthony Davis (faculty), Katharina Rosenberger (faculty), Paul Hembree (PhD candidate), Kyle Johnson (PhD candidate), Ryan Welsh (PhD candidate), and Curt Miller (DMA student) are among those whose work will be showcased during a new season of interdisciplinary work presented by UC San Diego's Qualcomm Institute.

The season opens on June 15 and is funded by the institute's Initiative for Digital Exploration of Arts and Sciences (IDEAS).

Among participating music department artists, Hembree is up first: He will present Generative Music Using Biological Metaphors on Monday June 29 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Calit2 Theater/Vroom.

Rosenberger (photo, at left) will be part of the Immersive Lab (her collaboration with Switzerland's Institute of Computer Music and Sound Technology) on Oct. 21 from 5 pm to 7 pm, followed by Miller on Sept. 3 (Rockets' Red Glare, with visual artist Amy Alexander), Davis on Nov. 12 (the Lilith opera project), Welsh on January 15, 2016 (a new multimedia piece Silhouette), and Johnson on June 9, 2016 (his multimedia work Past Teton Gap).
