SHLOMO DUBNOV'S NEW BOOK CROSS CULTURAL MULTIMEDIA COMPUTING
In his new book "Cross˜ultural Multimedia Computing - Semantic and Aesthetic Modeling," the music faculty's Shlomo Dubnov and his co-authors explore ongoing research into computational modeling of visual, musical and textual content, which are described in terms of identifying and mapping their semantic representations across different cultures.
They also recap experimental studies attempting to characterize preferences for complexity in abstract, classical and traditional art and music across samples of Western and Far Eastern cultures. Trained as a computer scientist, Dubnov is also an affiliated faculty member in computer science and engineering whose work has led to the creation of computer music software.
