UNDERGRAD AWARDS COVER A RANGE OF INTERESTS



  From jazz to cutting-edge computer music, top UCSD music students were honored with awards at a June 4 reception for undergraduates. Emily Shine won the Stewart Award for creative work in the ICAM program (Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts-Music. Adam Burruss took the ICAM Music Award for distinguished creative and production work, and Tiffany Hopkins snagged the ICAM Music Award for distinguished research project. Other undergrad award winners: Derlin Hsu and Matthew Salerno, Erickson Award for excellence in research; Kirk Wang, Peter Farrell Award for outstanding graduating senior; Thomas Ferguson, Carillon Commissions Award and Cheatham Award for jazz performance; Jennifer Tsai and Evan Ou, Nee Award for outstanding undergrad musicians in the La Jolla Symphony; Aakaash Israni, Bertram Turetzky Award for exceptional participation within the department and community; and Matthew Wilson, Jazz Society of Lower Southern California Award for outstanding contribution to UCSD Jazz Ensemble. Congratulations to all of our winners!
