Professors, alumni to appear at March 25 UC San Diego campaign event
On March 25, UC San Diego will welcome accomplished faculty, students and alumni for a celebration of the university's new branding campaign. With a focus on the university's history of establishing "nontraditions," the event will welcome several prominent UC San Diego alumni and current faculty members, including Department of Music alumnus and Grammy nominee Nathan East (who will perform alongside his son Noah) and recently retired music professor Peter Otto (who will demonstrate products developed at Comhear to assist with an individual's listening experiences). Steven Schick conducts Verdi's Requiem
Distinguished Professor and La Jolla Symphony and Chorus Music Director Steven Schick conducted three performances of Giuseppe Verdi's beautiful Requiem at Mandeville Auditorium last weekend. The concerts on May 17, 18 and 19 featured more than 300 musicians from the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus, the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus. "No one left there unaltered," wrote critic Marcus Overton of the May 17 audience for the San Diego Union-Tribune. "The pacing, phrasing, tone, and spirit of the performance were spot on," wrote Garrett Harris for the San Diego Reader. The La Jolla Symphony and Chorus will perform at Mandeville Auditorium next on May 6 and 7, with its final season performances taking place on June 10 and 11. Click here to learn more.
