KALLISTI PRESENTS "EXCEPTIONAL" NEW OPERA
On Wednesday, May 10, kallisti presented the premiere of its eighth chamber opera, an evening of one-act operas featuring two works by American minimalist composer Tom Johnson (Dryer and Drawers) and Francis Poulenc's La Voix Humaine. Artistic Director Susan Narucki directs Hillary Jean Young and Kyle Adam Blair with Assistant Director Jonathan Nussman directs Kirsten Ashley Wiest, Lauren Jones and Ran Duan in performances of the Johnson pieces, in addition to performing himself. San Diego Union-Tribune critic Marcus Overton called the premiere performance "exceptional" and praised each performer for their deliveries.
