The Gestalt Grouping Principles

Gestalt principles are based on Helmholtz's concept of unconscious inference:

Proximity

Similarity

Symmetry
$\scalebox{0.5}{\includegraphics{eps/symmetry}}$
Continuity

Common fate
$\scalebox{0.5}{\includegraphics{eps/commonfate}}$

The first 4 are weaker than the much stronger ``common fate''.
