Sound Intensity

Sound intensity is a measure of the power of a sound that actually contacts an area (e.g. eardrum).

The range of human hearing is

• threshold of audibility ($I_0$): $10^{-12}$ W/m$^2$
• threshold of feeling: 1 W/m$^2$

Intensity is related to pressure squared.
