Wave Impedance

The wave impedance

For solids,

$\displaystyle Z_0 = \rho c,
$

where $ \rho$ is the density of the material.

For gases in cylindrical tubes with a cross sectional area of $ A$,

$\displaystyle Z_0 = \frac{\rho c}{A}.
$
